SAFD East Central Region Newsletter - Vol. 1, No. 1... Date: 6/28/02 Dear SAFD members, Hello from your new Regional Representative, Dan O'Driscoll!... Due to restructuring - regional representation has been reduced to 10 areas (similar to the areas encompassed by the various theater conferences). Accordingly, I was appointed to represent the East Central region which includes New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and the District of Columbia. Under new guidelines, my basic function if to disseminate information to you - about SAFD policies and procedures... what stage combat classes are happening in your area... what projects your fellow SAFD members are currently pursuing, etc... It's also my job to field queries from members (and non-members alike) with regards to the SAFD and either resolving your concerns or passing them on to the appropriate person for consideration. In this regard please feel free to contact me Dan O'Driscoll-SAFD RegRep EastCentralRegion at any time. If I do not have the immediate answer for you - I will make sure I get the information you need from the source. Because I'm dealing with such a large area of representation and our members are very active professionally - I cannot possibly know everything that is happening in every area. In that regard, I need to rely on all of you to keep me informed about what is going on in your local areas. I'm privy to 'stuff' happening in the NYC area - but, I desperately need our members outside NYC (especially, the Philly area and Washington,DC/Baltimore area) to keep me abreast of events there. If you wish to serve the society better by being a 'local representative' (unofficial designation) - please let me know. The more we know about each other - the closer-knit a community we can become.... If you are receiving this e-mail - you are on the official SAFD membership roster with your dues currently paid-up... You should have received your new SAFD membership card in the mail, as well as the May/July2002 issue of the "Cutting Edge" newsletter. If you have not received one or both - contact me immediately and I will resolve the matter for you (your mailing information might be incorrect)... As a paid-up member, you have access to the members-only page of the SAFD website SAFD -- Member Log-In ... If you have not accessed this page - I recommend that you do so as soon as possible... Once you request and receive your password - you can view and download documents, read the bulletin board, and participate in member forums. A great deal of valuable information is available on this site. I plan to send all of you e-mails on a regular basis as new information comes to me regarding stage combat classes, workshops and member news. Wishing all of you a productive summer!... Regards, Dan O'Driscoll SAFD Regional Representative - East Central |
